Sadly, I’m sure lots of other people have experienced a similar thing to me. My siblings and I inherited our family home when my mother passed away, leaving us with two choices: sell our home to repay the mortgage or find a way to get finance so we could keep it.

"From a sad beginning to a happy ending, without the help of Online Mortgage Advisor we would have certainly lost our home, and for that I couldn’t be more grateful for their services.  "

I’ve never owned a house before, so not really knowing where to start we went straight to the high street and to the bank my mother had her mortgage with. My brother & I both have some tiny defaults from our university days that have affected our credit reports in the past, but didn’t think these would be too much of an issue for the lender.

We did actually get quite far through the application process but in the final stages the lender pulled out citing our blemished credit history. With inheritance we only had so long before we would be forced to sell the house in lieu of having the mortgage in our names.

In a panic

My brother started applying for mortgages at a number of other lenders, getting rejection after rejection. Worried that this was going to affect his credit score even more, I persuaded him to stop so that I could do some research.

Straight away Online Mortgage Advisor stood out and after reading some reviews, I had no hesitation about speaking to an advisor through them.

The advisor we were matched with was friendly and professional from the start. I did mention that I felt a bit embarrassed about the bad credit in my name as there can be a bit of a stigma around that, but the advisor was very reassuring and that he speaks to people in the exact same situation daily.

Our advisor got myself and my brother a joint mortgage approved in no time and we also borrowed a little extra on top for some home improvements. We had a massive sense of relief that our family home would stay in our life for many more years. The house to this day is still occupied by my twin brother and my little sister also lives there when she isn’t at university.

From a sad beginning to a happy ending, without the help of Online Mortgage Advisor we would have certainly lost our home, and for that I couldn’t be more grateful for their services.
